Day 139 – Beer O’Clock

Well I think this photo is fairly self-explanatory! Today was the first day in over 2 and a hald months that I went out and had a few beers (and other alcoholic beverages!). The time off it has definitely given me a good perspective on the role of alcohol in life and it’s been interesting soberly observing the antics that go on around drink and the culture it influences.

Quotes of the day:

“The chief reason for drinking is the desire to behave in a certain way, and to be able to blame it on alcohol”   – Mignon McLaughlin

“If you know someone who tries to drown their sorrows, you might tell them sorrows know how to swim” – Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Irish Toast: “May you be in heaven fifteen minutes before the devil knows you are dead”

I like beer. On occasion, I will even drink beer to
celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism
or the fact that the refrigerator is still working.
— Dave Barry

“Of all the vices, drinking is the most incompatible with greatness” – Sir Walter Scott

“If you need an excuse for why you don’t drink alcohol, you could say that addiction runs in your family and you don’t want to try it even once because you may not stop until you are dead in a puddle of your own vomit or smashed into the side of a mini-van with children’s body parts scattered around your corpse” – Duane Alan Hahn
