Day 34 – AFL Lesson for Newies!

Quick AFL lesson from some photos I took on Saturday night at Blacktown

This is how you drop to kick – Ball dropping straight down and you kick through the bottom of it.

Always punch the ball when you are contesting from behind

Head over the footie – Most newcomers are a bit apprehensive at getting into the contest but all coaches would say get your head over the football, power on through and you won’t get hurt.

Tackle – One of the ways of tackling is to grab onto the opposing player, fall and use your weight to drag them down.

Sheppard – Note how the taller Swans player is blocking the opposition from getting to his teammate. The ginger guy went on to score a goal from this play.

Quote of the day: “Sport doesn’t build character, it reveals it”
