Day 29

“That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet” – how true Emily Dickinson!

So true for the good times that have gone by, it almost makes the memorable times seem more memorable. Our achievements more momentous. Our successes more sweet.

But it also strikes a chord with the dark times and gives us hope that whatever has gone before has gone. The mistakes we’ve made are now lessons by which to etch a more positive future. Life is a constant learning curve in which we can grow by not obsessing too much on regrets and accepting that our past has made us who we are today. All well and good unless one’s past has led them to becoming an axe murderer I suppose!

It is the same with photography. It is essentially capturing a moment that will never happen again, that unknown businessman will probably never pass that same street by that identical puddle with the same light, but he did today and I was lucky enough to get a photo that, for me, is a perfect visual reminder of my state of mind on this day.

As the famous Ansel Adams once said “Sometimes I do get to places just when God is ready to have someone click the shutter” Maybe I should start praying a bit more!
